Limbus company is a turn-based strategy game with many story elements. The story takes place in a location called "The City." The city is a place made up of twenty-six districts controlled by one of twenty-six wings. These wings protect the citizens of the nests where people can work and stay safe from monsters known as abnormalities. However, there are places outside of the nests known as the backstreets where there is very little protection from the things listed above. The backstreets also contain other threats such as sweepers and criminal gangs that make life there incredibly difficult. This makes many people attempt to find jobs in the city to escape the backstreets or join a gang such as the middle for protection.
During the story of Limbus Company, you play as someone named Dante who has a clock for a head, which allows him to revive the people he commands known as the sinners. There are twelve sinners in the game all with different identities that allow for different play styles. Each sinner either has or will have their own chapter that shows how they will grow while attempting to obtain an object known as a golden bough for the company. All the characters have their own unique personally and story about them and their past which makes them all feel more real and shows that they all come from different backgrounds and their unique views on the world. It also has a great combat system where you can chain your attacks from each sinner to make them stronger when they share the same sin affinity, there is also over 50 different status effects in game allowing for different team compositions that change how you play the game.
